'Gardening with Stitches'


An introduction to this exceptional woman who was an artist, craftsperson and gardener as well as a prolific writer. Workshop to include interpreting a Jekyll garden design in hand or machine embroidery.


INSPIRATION FROM GIVERNY

Monet the artist and gardener. A brief biography showing his paintings and the colourful planting schemes of his garden at Giverny.


INSPIRATION FROM VAN GOGH

'Colour into stitch'

A brief biography followed by a study of his paintings and letters to his brother Theo. Workshop to focus on a small embroidery based on a detail of one of his painting.


GARDENS OF THE HEART

Inspiration from a variety of British and European gardens including Munstead Wood, Chatsworth, Giverny and Villandry. Illustrated with gardens and embroidery. Workshop could be linked to a vase or container of flowers to be stitched in hand/machine embroidery.


TEXTILE ROAD SHOW

Liz will show a range of British and foreign textiles from her collection and will talk briefly about their acquisition. The audience will be encouraged to participate by bringing their treasured textiles for identification and discussion.
